Hi everyone! Welcome to our blog where we, as you probably have read in “our trip”, are going to tell you about our journey of a lifetime to Africa and Oceania.
Right now Emma and I are sitting at Arlanda airport in Stockholm, waiting for our flight to Uganda. We are still catching our breaths after running through the whole airport! But we got through the security check before it closed some minutes ago, yay! Okay, I should take it all from the beginning…
I left my apartment early this morning and took my brand new car to pick up Emma. I drove up in front of her apartment house at nine o'clock, as we had made up yesterday, but she wasn´t even awake yet! When she finally had left her bed and got dressed there was barley time to pack her things into the car and then we were on our way. The clock was about two hours later then we had planned and I had to drive as fast as the busy street allowed. Emma, sitting beside me with a map in her phone, shouted which way I should drive. It was a total chaos…
And as we were nearly Stockholm and thought that things couldn´t get worse, we saw a white police car. I immediately slammed on the brakes and slowed the car to allowed speed. We didn´t thought that the policemen saw us, but a moment later the police car drove after us. Now we saw the houses of the city and reached the first traffic lights, which were green as we passed but turned red some moments later. The police car had to stop and we looked relived at each other. But the relief was short, because the police car came up behind us again and this time it was near enough for us to see how the two policemen in it waved at us to drive of the street and stop. We did as we were ordered, I drove of the street at the nearest crossroad and stopped the car. One of the policemen, a very young guy, came and talked to us, he said that we had driven to fast. Emma looked innocent at him and said something like: Oh, did we? I could barely hold back a laugh. After a bit of a discussion with the policeman the event ended with that we had to pay a speeding penalty on ONE THOUSAND crowns!!! So we are behind our budget before our trip even had started. Lovely beginning… Or not…
Anyway, we got to the airport just in time. We ran through the security check, just before it closed, and now we are sitting in the departure hall, waiting for our flight. Although we got a turbulent start, from now on I think we´ll have everything under control… Good night everyone, tomorrow we´ll be in Entebbe, in Africa! We are sooo excited!!! :) //AK
